We have policies to control development affecting historic buildings and natural heritage.
This includes:
- countryside
- landscape
- Arnside and Silverdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty
- nature conservation interests, including sites of special scientific interest
- sites of international importance
- conservation areas
- listed buildings
We work in conservation areas promoting improvement and good management through:
- grant aid
- enhancement schemes
- appraisals (including boundary reviews)
It also includes preparation of design guidance and encouraging communities to assess what makes their town or village special.
