Dog fouling
Last Updated: 3 April 2024
If you allow your dog to foul in an open public place, you must clean it up straight away.
There are around 850 litter bins in South Lakeland that you can use for dog waste.
If you don't clean up after your dog, or you're not carrying the right equipment for cleaning up, you could be liable for an initial fixed penalty of £100.
Persistent offenders will be taken to court and face a fine of up to £1,000.
Full details of Dog Control Orders are included in our information about Public Space Protection Orders (PSPO's).
How to report dog fouling
